Summer Health Precautions

Fashion, Beauty and Health

Exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays appears to be the most important environmental factor involved in the development of skin cancer. Summer time can mean more time in the sun and more need to protect yourself from exposure to the sun’s rays.

The elderly and the very young are especially at risk during this time of the year, since they are not able to effectively counteract the effect of high temperatures on their bodies. These groups are prone to heat-related illnesses which occur due to a steady buildup of heat in the body that overwhelm the body’s capacity to cool itself.

Summer Health Precautions

Don’t drink water from tap or roadside vends. Drink only boiled or bottled water. Also, buy water from respectable and decent looking outlets. Check the seal before buying the water to make sure that it is intact.

Taking bath twice a day is advisable. Always wash your face properly whenever you come from outside. Sleep after washing your face.

Watermelon is one of the best fruit in summer, but do not drink too much watermelon or mango juice once as it may cause diarrhea

Don’t push yourself beyond your limits, balance activities with rest. Also maintain energy level by limiting your intake of fat and sugar.

Be aware of the signs that your body is giving out. Notice if your heart rate is increasing or if the colour of your urine is darker than before.

Coffee and tea are not all good as they stimulate the central nervous system. Taking them on empty stomach is harmful as they mix with acid and circulated all over the body producing several diseases.

Salty snacks can help. Try adding some salt to sliced fruits or salads as a refreshing snack.
